VEGETABLES / BEAN
DRY-BUSH
Bush, Half Runner. 15 inch tall productive plants become viney and a bit of sprawl on the ground as they mature. Might be best grown if provided some support. I have always grown this bean on the ground as a bush. Pods are green 4 1/4 x 7/16 inches. Clean shelling when hand shelled as the inner white linning membrane stays fairly intact as the pods are split open. About 4 to 5 seeds per pods. Seed has a pinkish tan base color with a red area around the eye that slowley fades and blends into the base color. Named and developed by me in the late 70's and early 80's. Seems to be stable. The sister variety to Chicasaw. John Staples had not listed any varieties since 2006. However when I wrote to him I found he had been keeping this bean and was so kind to give me a sample along with some others. NY ST J '13, IN FU A '95, OH LU B '90, IL CR R '83
