VEGETABLES / FAVA-BROAD-BEAN
A large light-green seed, usually harvested semi-sec. to eat raw or barely cooked. Started outdoors in Jan. - it provides a crop in May/June. The larger the bean the sweeter they are. There may have been some cross breeding with a smaller type, easily selected out. A breeding effort going back to the 1980s by my dear friend Ianto Evans (also famous for introducing cob building to the US - a traditional building method from Wales where he hails from). Ianto is 84 now and not gardening anymore.
