Machado Farm Isla

This is botanical seed harvested from potato seed berries which self-pollinated [not a controlled cross] therefore the TPS name matches with the female parent which self or cross pollinated with unknown male parent. This is an interesting strain! So interesting that I decided to mail in a tuber to MSU for genetic fingerprinting. The parentage is unknown, but I speculate it's a progeny of BARBARA, one of the varieties Rick Machado has selected on his California farm for tolerance to heat and drought. In my first year growing it in 2018 with likely dehydrated seed tubers, I only got one seed berry! I expect my future TPS offerings to improve in available seed quantities. For now, for this variety I only have 5 seeds to mail per order.
