Straight, green, uniform pods. Downy (non-prickly) pods have five non-distinct ridges per fruit. Mature pods reach 5.5-6.5" long by 1-1.3" wide. Plants grow 3-4' tall. Green stems, leaves and petioles. Low productivity when grown in 2013 at Heritage Farm. No lodging. Given to SSE by Ron Thuma (KS TH R). Introduced to the SSE Yearbook Exchange in 1987 by Ted Gibbs (MO GI T). Originally released by the Louisiana Agricultural Experiment Station in 1959 as a cross between P.I. 186972 and the variety 'Louisiana Market'; reportedly good for canning and freezing.
