C.-MOSCHATA
C. moschata. Fruit buff-orange with light orange streaks, smooth, very slightly ribbed. Fruit 8-10" in diameter. In 2011 grow-out the shape ranged from pear to oblate. Donated to SSE by Marian Van Atta. Grown in Van Atta's family since 1956 when it was acquired from Wayne Taylor of Melbourne, FL. In 1988, Southern Seeds in Melbourne marketed the squash and named it in honor of Van Atta, garden columnist for the Orlando Sentinel. The variety is described in Van Atta's book "Exotic Foods A Kitchen and Garden Guide" with suggested recipes. SSE Accession # 120259
