DRY-POLE
Pole, dry bean. Seeds brown, oval. Immature pods green; straight to slightly curved; pubescent; round elliptic in cross section. SSE staff finds pods non-edible; previously listed by AL DO C as good for snap or shelling. Fully expanded pods 4.2-5.6" long; 0.3-0.5" wide. Mature pods yellow with a red blush. Shelling and dry beans have a moist texture and mild flavor. Dry beans hard seeded. Dry pods contract around the seeds; non-shattering. 5-8 seeds per pod. Plants have light red pigmentation at the nodes and along stem. White flowers. High productivity; mid-season maturing when grown in 2014 at Heritage Farm. Donated to SSE by Chris Downs (AL DO C) of Alabama who introduced this variety into the Exchange in 1998. Downs received seeds from an elderly lady and described it as an old-time variety been has been in the lady's family for many years. SSE Accession # 104873
