Domingo

VEGETABLES / TOMATO
RED
Amazing producer of extra large tomatoes, often 2-3 lbs., up to nearly 6 lbs. documented, setting several state giant tomato records in recent years. Vincenzo Domingo, who introduced this variety to North America, has grown 4 tomatoes on a single truss with a total weight of 20+ lbs.! Larger fruits form from multiple tightly fused blossoms, so lobing is much less pronounced than with most other giant varieties. Main picture is of a 4.65 lb. specimen. Bright, robust, moderately sweet, delicious flavor - great for slicing, though likely selected as a super productive cooking tomato; 71 days to first ripe tomato. A lot of fun to grow - yet another tomato variety that produces both huge AND very tasty fruits! Domingo family heirloom from Castellammare del Golfo, Sicily, Italy. Domingo name selected by Vincenzo through his daughter Maria Cicciarella to honor the family name. // P.S. Sadly, Vincenzo passed away at the end of 2014. Fortunately, he shared seeds of this variety so his gardening legacy continues.
