New York Ironweed Vernonia noveboracensis

NY Ironweed is a tall, sturdy plant with intensely purple, feathery flowers. It blooms in late summer and is a magnet for pollinators. Native to the eastern U.S. and will grow in most soils. Seeds require several weeks of moist, cold stratification to germinate so it is a good candidate for winter sowing.
