Hen Fye

Large, elongate, dark green fruit. Superficial longitudinal grooves from stem to blossom end. Fruit measured 11-17" long and 6-9" in diameter and weighed 20-37 lbs. in 2012 drought year at Heritage Farm. Red flesh. Good flavor and texture. Moderately sweet. Thick rind. White seeded. Mid-season maturing. Donated to SSE by Carl Fye who obtained the variety from CV Par. Originally developed in the early 1900's. SSE Accession # 127885
