STC TPS 97B. In spring of 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic quarantine, I grew out some true potato seeds. This is the second of two varieties I selected as being worth sharing. Tubers are round, smooth skinned, purple with pink swirls on the exterior and a patterned lavender interior. Extremely prolific and produces tubers all the way to the surface, so very easy to harvest. Keep adding mulch (straw, pine needles, soil, leaves, whatever) during growing seasons to prevent tubers from greening, then brush away to harvest. Excellent for growing in containers. Good keeper. The name comes from the Monty Python "Lifeboat" sketch, wherein one of the characters states, "I'd rather eat Hodges!"
