A diminutive yellow-green butterhead. This is sometimes referred to as a tennis ball type because if forms tight, small heads with few lower leaves. Leaves are very thin and soft textured, mild flavor. Plants reach 3-4" tall and 6-8" wide. Bolts relatively quickly. White seed. Variety matches the description in William Weaver's book Heirloom Vegetable Gardening: A Master Gardener's Guide to Planting, Seed Saving, and Cultural History. Donated to SSE by the late Mary Schultz (WA SC M). Food historian William Woys Weaver (PA WE W) considers this variety a synonym of White-Seeded Tennisball, Golden Tennisball, and Golden Forcing.
