Raw roots are crisp and moderately juicy and sweet. Cooked roots have a potato like taste and grainy texture. Roots vary in shape from elliptic to round. Root color is white, but secondary colors can vary from light green to red around the top. Smaller roots are 3-5" long, 2.25-3.85" wide, and weigh 6-19 oz. Rutabaga type leaves green but the intensity of pigmentation in the petioles ranges from light green to moderately purple. Plants 4.33-9.85" tall and 24-32" in diameter. Acquired by SSE from Will Bonsall (ME BO W); NSSL. This accession was previously distributed by SSE incorrectly as a turnip, but botanically, it is a rutabaga. SSE Accession # 127665
