Large, oblong fruit. Pale green with dark green longitudinal stripes. Fairly sweet with good flavor and texture. Red flesh is slightly soft and not quite as crisp as other varieties. Fruit somewhat variable in size, shape, and rind thickness. Fruit reach 7-11" long, 7-8" wide, and weigh 7-14lbs. Rind thickness ranges from 0.5-0.8". Average productivity. Plants suffered from anthracnose in 2014 growout at Heritage Farm. Reddish-brown seeds with black dotting. Mid-season maturing. Acquired by SSE via Glenn Drowns (IA DR G) from the USDA collection (NSL 16930) in 1986. Originally developed by the Rhode Island AES in Kingston, RI as a cross between Dixie Queen x Honey Cream.
