Originated near Ettersburg, Humbolt County California in 1944. Developed by Albert Etter primarily as a cider apple, but can be eaten fresh. Small, round conic fruit. Skin red on yellow. Firm juicy astringent, spicy flesh with up to 25 percent sugar. Tree moderately vigorous, round open grower. Maybe scab, blight, and rust resistant. Ripens Sept. Oct. Hardy to zone 3. 2 scions.
