American apple of unknown origin. Also known as Bough, Early Bough and Cane Mash. Grown before 1817. Med. to Lg. fruit, smooth pale yellow skin, tender juicy white flesh with honey sweet flavor under favorable conditions. Vigorous tree, round upright growing with deep green luxuriant foliage. Aug. ripening. Heavy bearing, precocious. Fruit tends to rot easily when bruised. Hardy to zone 4. 3 scions.
