VEGETABLES / CORN
UNSORTED-CORN
This is strain 2 of the corn by this name. 6-7 foot stalks with 1-2 ears per stalk. 2-4 tillers on each stalk. Ears are slender and average 7-8 inches long with 8-10 rows of kernels on most. An occasional ear has 12 rows, but I'm selecting for the 8-10. Kernels on most ears are a burnt orange to red color with white starburst pattern, while up to a third of ears are all white/clear. An occasional blue kernel shows here and there. This corn is a mix of flint and flour kernels, but mostly flour. The other strain of this corn is all flint. 120-130 days. A corn of the Tamaroa people of the Illiniwek confederacy. Donated to the USDA in 1999 by John White of the Ancient Lifeways Institute.
