Marjory began growing the variety after receiving some seeds from her friend Karla Gitlitz in 2010. Karla obtained the seeds from her grandmother, Mary Ready, in 2006. Mary told Karla that the variety dates back to World War II. Karla’s grandfather, Carlton Ready (Mary’s husband), was serving with the US armed forces somewhere in Germany. He and his platoon came across these tomatoes while on patrol and ate some. Carlton kept some of the seeds and brought them back with him to his home in Thermopolis, WY following his military service. Carlton grew and maintained the variety there until his death in 1995. Marjory became an SSE listed member and offered this variety in the 2014 and 2015 SSE Exchange. SSE Accession # 132333
