Not a uniform variety. Fruit are large and generally elliptic in shape but can be more rounded. Fruit ribbing ranges from shallow to deep. Moderately netted. Rind is greenish-yellow at maturity. Fruit 7-13 inches long, 6-13 inches wide, and 7-12 pounds at maturity. Thick, green rind and orange flesh. Low sweetness. Flavor is flat. Flesh is a little stringy. Brix reading 6.8. Low productivity. Late maturing. Donated to SSE by Bill Smith (OK SM B) who described this variety in the 2003 SSE Exchange as "named after Dewey Stovall, grower in Oklahoma City OK, purchased melon from roadside stand rural AR in mid-1980s."
