VEGETABLES / BEAN
DRY-BUSH
Bush dry bean. 90 days dry. Blossom light pink. Pods 5 x 7/16 inches. 20 to 22 inch tall, prolific plants grow upright without runnners. Clean to hand shell as inner lining white membrane stays intact. Makes a fine baked bean dish. I tried using a southern baked bean recipe with this variety. Seed has a white base color with milk chocolate brown area around the eye and spotting of the same color over the remainder of the seed. Seeds are patterned much like Jacob's Cattle. Soil sensitivity will cause some seed to have more brown than white. An original bean named and introduced by me. The bean originates in 1979, and first listed in the SSE yearbook in 1982, and 1983. A bean called "Brown Kidney" that I acquired from John Withee's Wanigan Associates is the seed mother of Pawnee. The bean can be found being sold commercially on the internet. Reacquired seed from my donations list at Heritage Farm. Source History IA SSE HF '12, SSE Bean 3356, O.S. IL CR R '79.
