{iActinidia purpurea} (species), female, early-midseason hardy kiwi with vigorous-growing vine, begins bearing at 3-4 years, bears heavily 1-1.25" long, cylindrical, pointed fruit which is purple-skinned and purple fleshed when ripe, ripens over a 3-4 week period, fruit drops easily upon ripening, but not as quickly as Ken's Red kiwi, may be pollinated by {iA. arguta} male, fruit flavor is good, plus since fruit ripens over a longer time span, this var. is ideal for picking some fresh fruit daily.
