**Vigna unguiculata "Southern Speckle"** Discover the impressive Southern Speckle Cowpea, a small yet powerful variety that offers remarkable resilience and versatility. This annual plant produces vigorous vines that can reach up to 15 feet in length and blooms from late fall to early winter. Though smaller in size, it is easier to grow and yields a higher harvest. **Sowing Instructions:** These seeds boast excellent germination rates. Plant them 1-1.5 inches deep directly in your garden after the last frost, when the soil is warm. You can sow them until early summer for a continuous harvest. **Growing Conditions:** Southern Speckle thrives in loamy soil but adapts well to most well-drained soils. It prefers full sun and is both disease-resistant and drought-tolerant. You can plant this variety late in the year; I've successfully sown as late as July. However, be mindful that planting later increases the risk of an early freeze. While these seeds can withstand some cold, a hard freeze will damage them.
