Small plants with dark green, spoon-shaped leaves. Leaves are semi-erect and cupped. Plants reach 2" tall and 5" wide. This hardy winter salad green, also known as mache, is best sown in the fall and harvested the following spring. Flavor is best under cool, moist conditions. Hearty flavor and delicate, crisp texture. Plants suffer in the heat and bolted in mid-June in 2016 at Heritage Farm. Acquired by SSE in 2016 from Fedco (CV Fed). A variety by this name has been exchanged in the SSE Yearbook Exchange for more than 20 years. SSE Accession # 132958
