Mary's

Eric and Maryann Demitroff of Vineland, New Jersey started growing this variety of garlic after they married over 20 years ago (as of 2017). They purchased it from Mary Ricchio D’Amico, also of Vinedale. When Maryann was a little girl in Vinedale in the 1950s and 1960s, her family lived next door to Mary. Maryann remembers going to Mary's house to purchase garlic for her mother. Mary grew and sold it to supplement her income to “make ends meet. Mary was born in 1912 in Tufara, Italy and came to the United States when she was three years old. Mary passed away in 2008 and the family does not know when or how she originally received the garlic. It might have come from Italy, but Mary might have also acquired it locally. Eric and Maryann shared the garlic with SSE in 2017. Requests may be made for this variety starting September 21, 2026 at 9 a.m. CT for shipment around mid-October.
