VEGETABLES / BEAN
SNAP-POLE
Long, flat, string bean. 7-8" long. Nice, sweet flavor. Strongly climbing plants. 6-8 seeds per pod. Dark tan, irregularly shaped beans. Good to eat as a soup bean too. Thicker skin means beans hold their shape well during cooking. About 25% of dry beans are hard-seeded. Average productivity. Mid-season. Donated to SSE in 1981 by bean collector John Withee of Lynnfield, Massachusetts and the Wanigan Associates. Withee received this variety from the late, Donald Tolley (WV TO D).
