Cossack Alfalfa

This variety was commercially available starting in the 1910’s; introduction to the market is attributed to Niels Ebbesen Hansen, a professor of Horticulture and Forestry at Dakota Agricultural College (SDSU)and the head of the South Dakota Experimental Station. The variety is believed to be from the Siberian region and was researched at the South Dakota Agriculture Experimental Station before its commercial introduction. This variety was donated to SSE on an unknown date by the late Leo Daley of Caledonia, Minnesota. SSE Accession # 130091
