Acquired by SSE from Thompson & Morgan. CV Tho offered this variety from 1987-1989. This variety originated from Castelfranco in the Treviso region of Northern Italy. In Europe, this variety was granted Protected Geographical Indication status from the EU in 1996, effectively limiting the sale of market mature specimens by this name to plants grown in the Treviso region of Northern Italy.
