This variety is a beautiful cabbage. The plants are dark purple, including the outer leaves and heads. The plants are 2 ft in diameter and 1.5 ft tall. The leaves are incredibly thick with heavy bloom on the outer head. This gives the leaves a bluish-purple color. The plants are very uniform. This variety is incredibly insect resistant, with no cabbage looper or flea beetle issues seen during the 2021 planting at Heritage Farm. This variety matures late and lasts in the garden for a long time; it is an excellent ornamental cabbage. The heads are 4-5.5" in diameter, 5.5-6.5" long, and 2.5-3.5 lbs. When eaten raw it is tough and chewy, but it is good cooked. SSE Accession # 106660
