Savoy spinach with dark green leaves with medium to strong blistering. Glossy leaves range in shape from elliptic to arrow shaped. Leaves are rather erect. Plants 6-8 inches tall and 10-15 inches in diameter. Smooth seed. Grown as a fall crop at Heritage Farm in 2016 and did well. Tender variety with very nice spinach flavor and thicker leaves. This accession matches the description of Old Dominion in the USDA publication "Descriptions of Types of Principal American Varieties of Spinach" from 1938. Acquired by SSE from Peace Seeds (CV Pe1). A variety by this name appears in USDA Miscellaneous Publication #316 (published in 1938) where it's described as a 1929 introduction by the Virginia Truck Experiment Station. SSE Accession # 119613
