Syrup variety. Plants grow 6.5-8ft tall and commonly have 2-3 tillers. Brix score: 9.2. Semi-loose, erect panicle; 10-12" long. Medium-large, whitish grains are sparsely covered by brown glumes. Moderately easy to thresh. ~4500-6500 grains per panicle. Late maturing. Donated to SSE in the mid 1990s by David and Donna Phillips (IN PH D). This variety was released in 1968 for syrup production in the southeastern United States. It was developed cooperatively by the Mississippi Agricultural and Forestry Experiment Station and the Agricultural Research Service, USDA. SSE Accession # 119291
