(Cucumis melo variety chate) A light cylindrical fruit with dark green speckled bands that is usually picked young, when only 1-1.5in (2.5-4cm) in diameter. While this Palestinian cucumber-melon variety has been grown for many years in the area in and around Beit Sahour, the community started celebrating this indigenous Faqous with a festival in 2009.
