VEGETABLES / PEPPER
HOT
This pepper was sourced from a coworker. He was visiting New Jersey and ate a meal that used these peppers. He asked if he could take a pepper with him and the waiter brought him one from the kitchen. My coworker gave it to me so that we could try growing it. I allowed it to ripen and saved the seeds.
It looks very much like a large cayenne pepper. Generally, it is 8 to 9 inches long and about an inch in diameter at the top. Usually straight but sometimes it will curl. Very wrinkled and green, turning red with time. Mildly hot, about the same as a jalapeno. The bushes can get quite tall, more than 3 feet. The plant is productive.
