Chenopodium album; Common edible weed in North America, reaching 6ft (2m) tall; warm-season annual first seen in mid-spring. Known as Fat Hen in U.K., Pigweed often in the US; a member of goosefoot family. Closely related to orach and strawberry-blite; more distantly to spinach, beets, chard, and amaranth. Each plant produces hundreds of edible seeds and self-sows. Leaves of excellent quality are edible at any stage in the plant's life.
