Cuban Seasoning Pepper

VEGETABLES / PEPPER
UNSORTED-PEPPERS
So, when Tom and I looked at the boxes in the freezer, Chris had one marked ‘private stock’. In it, we came across a very small seed bag marked “Cuban Seasoning Pepper” in Chris’ writing. There were six (6) seeds. We couldn’t find anything additional anywhere with that name. We decided to give it a whirl and see if we would be successful. Well, all six (6) seeds germinated and we decided to put four (4) plants in the garden. Wow, were they slow to get started!! The rest of the peppers were way ahead in terms of size and starting to flower. But you know the saying, patience! Well, they ended up being the most beautiful, 4-foot tall, disease-free plant. Fruit, about 1.5” in diameter and about 0.75” tall, in an absolute abundance, by the hundreds. Green turning to a bright red, red when ripe. Most were just this delicious, sweet pepper that ‘seasoned’ whatever you put it in. There were some with heat but even that was just this delicious, mild heat that added to your dish (trust me, I’m not big on hot). Well, we saved seeds to share and hope you will give them a try. Guessing the original seed may have come from one of the local island ladies from St. Croix where Chris enjoyed so much of his time!! We'd love to know if you are familiar with these peppers and your experience!!!!!
