FLOWERS / IRIS
Neither a blackberry nor a lily! An iris with pretty orange flowers and lily-like darker orange flecks. The seed pods open in the fall to reveal a cluster of seeds and looks much like a blackberry. A perennial rhizome root. Blooms in mid-summer. Does not need much maintenance or water. Native to Eastern Asia. Hardy to USDA zone 5. Can escape cultivation but is not considered an invasive species. I recommend starting seeds by winter sowing in a milk jug/recycled container (look it up!). I was unable to capture my own images this year, so the attached images are from Wikipedia users - Flower: Fan Wen (CC BY-SA 4.0); Pod: Doronenko (CC BY 3.0).
