VEGETABLES / CUCUMBER
Organic Listing
Dark green, smooth, glossy cucumber with barely noticeable pale green stripes. Uniform, cylindrical fruit. At 4-5" or shorter they were tender and delicious enough I ate the entire thing, skin and all. Sweet, floral, crisp, thin skin, and not bitter when small. Above 5", the skin thickens and the seeds mature enough to make me consider peeling or leaving them to mature for seeds. Spines are small and sparse. Leaf hairs are soft. The most productive cucumber here in 2025 and of 8 cucumbers in 2020 at Heritage Farm. Susceptible to powdery mildew. Mid-season. SSE says it was collected in St. Petersburg Flower Market, 1993. SSE Accession # 109292 My fruit looked very much like the beit alpha I grew elsewhere in the garden.
