Tennessee Green Pod

Donated to SSE in 1981 by John Withee of the Wanigan Associates. Withee acquired this variety from SSE member Ruth Putnam (VA PU R). A variety by this name was introduced into the commercial seed trade by D.M. Ferry & co. in their 1904 seed annual. However, this variety predates its commercial release. John Withee stated that this variety was grown locally in Virginia before being picked up by commercial seed houses at the turn of the 20th century. SSE Accession # 101379
