Indet. Regular leaf. Medium vigor. Round to slightly flattened red fruit. Golf ball to not-quite-tennis ball sized, 4-8 oz. Average number of large seeds. Classic but not strong tomato flavor with medium sweetness. Easy to peel with skin easy to chew. Somewhat meaty, fairly juicy. Thick walls, slightly acid, good producer. Very nice to eat fresh, but also a good canner. Will set fruit reliably even in hot and dry conditions. I put these in a problem area of my garden with much more sun than most tomatoes have been happy with and they did very well. 70-80 days. Tatiana's TomatoBase gives this history: History Bred by CV D. V. Burrell Seed Growers from Sioux, which was developed at the University of Nebraska in 1944. PI 644789. Donated to USDA in 1961 by Petoseed Company, Inc. USDA narrative: "Scarlet, medium size, almost globe shaped, thick walls, high uniformity and yielding, early maturity, determinate, red fruits. Peto's Seed 1960."
