VEGETABLES / TOMATO
PINK-PURPLE
I grew 7 different early tomato varieties in 2025 and this was the earliest. The flavor was good (not great) but it very welcome early in the season. I transplanted these into my Zone 7a garden on April 19 and harvested the first ripe ones on June 24. The fruit was about 1 inch in diameter. The vines grew only about 2 feet and were moderately productive for a couple weeks before stopping. These would be an interesting choice if you grow multiple varieties and want early tomatoes before your others are ripe. I obtained these from IA SSE HF and will copy part of their description here: Acquired by SSE from the Long Island Seed and Plant Co. This variety was developed by Dr. R. E. Harris at the Agricultural Canada Research Station in Beaverlodge, Alberta and was released in 1975. It was "selected from the backcross (Mini Rose x Early Sub-Arctic) x Early Sub-Arctic."
