A green variety from Montana, Bulgaria with light green leaves about 3 inches across. Note that orach produces two types of seeds, which differ in dormancy: small black ones, which can take a long time to germinate, and larger yellow-brown ones, which germinate much more quickly. The black seeds may benefit from stratification (although it isn't necessary) to stimulate them. The yellow-brown seeds are a better match for spring and fall plantings; the black ones are better suited to fall plantings. Fulfilled orders will include a adequate numbers of both types of seed. Seed threshing tip: to remove the seeds from the bracts, let them dry, then run them through a clean vacuum cleaner or shop vac. This will separate the seeds from the bracts, and the mix can be winnowed easily using normal methods.
