AKA Macedonian Grilling and Vezena Piperka (“embroidered pepper"in Macedonian). Capsicum annuum. A very old and unique heirloom pepper variety originating from Macedonia. The fruit are 6-8" long, tapered, red when ripe, with intricately scarred skin that appears to be embroidered. The lines on the pepper are important to the flavor because they release sugars and flavor as they heat. They are sweet with a medium heat level between a jalapeno and a cayenne pepper. They are traditionally grilled or roasted to bring out their smoky flavor, or dried in bundles and displayed as edible decorations or ground to make a spicy, sweet, smoky paprika powder. 75 days from transplant.
