VEGETABLES / TOMATO
RED
Organic Listing
Indeterminate. Regular leaf plants. Beautiful looking fruit that look like upside down tear drops. Larger ones were 4 -5 inches from stem to tip, and 3-4 inches across at the widest point, tapering down to a rounded tip. Color is a strong orange-red. Fruits are very firm, and consistency is a bit more like a paste tomato. However, the taste is excellent if fruit is allowed to ripen fully. The leaves are highly serrated, and close up at night if the air is cold. As they are growing, the plants appear rather weak. They do not appear capable of supporting large fruit, and I have sometimes created a sling or hammock to hold the fruit up. Overall, the plants are more delicate & frail than other varieties. This is also a very late variety, with fruits often forming in August and harvest not until late September.
