Salvia apiana, commonly called white sage, is a California native evergreen shrub with large, highly fragrant, silver-white leaves. Flower stalks rise high above the plant and bloom with lavender white blossoms which bees and hummingbirds love. Used by indigenous tribes for ceremonial purposes. Will grow 2ft-4ft tall and wide. Deer resistant.
Seeds need light to germinate. Scarify seeds with medium grit sand paper. Lay seeds on top of soil. Do not cover with soil. Keep evenly warm and moist. Germination can take up to 21 days. Known for low germination rate even with special consideration. Will not tolerate cold temperatures. Drought tolerant once established.
