VEGETABLES / POTATO
Organic Listing
A high-yielding, late-maturing all-purpose variety. Tubers are round, have light buff skin with slight russetting and white flesh. Vines resistant to flea beetles, leaf hoppers and late blight. Tubers are susceptible to late blight. Parents are Green Mountain x Katahdin. Sequoia grows satisfactorily in a wide range of soil and climatic conditions. Careful attention should be given to spacing and fertilizing. Because of the vigor of this variety, it produces rough, over-size tubers with a tendency to hollow heart condition, if given too much space in the row or if fertilized too heavily. Developed by Fred N. Colvard to help end a potato famine in Peru in 1945.
