A cold-hardy, mid-1800s Wisconsin heirloom variety (a Duchess of Oldenburg Northern Spy cross) known for its medium-to-large, green-yellow fruit with red stripes. It has firm, juicy, subacid flesh, making it excellent for cooking, pies, and cider. It ripens in October/November, stores well, and thrives in zones 4-7. It is a high-chill variety, typically requiring 800–1,000+ hours of winter temperatures between 32 F and 45 F to break dormancy and fruit properly.
