GRAINS / OAT
Hulled red winter oat; developed in North Carolina in the 1970s, making a comeback due to its winter hardiness. Not quite as hardy as Cosaque but a larger grain, and much hardier than Bob, Buck, etc.; yielded 100 bu/ac at Upton, KY after a winter with -32°F lows. From: Mike Ryder, farmer in Hardin County, KY.
