Donated to SSE in 1981 by bean collector John Withee of Lynnfield, Massachusetts and the Wanigan Associates. Withee received the variety in 1977 from Harmon A. Poole of Litchfield, CT. It was brought to the U.S. in 1977 from Loitokitok, Kenya by Poole's grandchildren; originally grown on the slopes of Mt. Kilimanjaro. SSE Accession # 101215
