Pole. Snap bean. Strongly climbing. Similar to black-seeded Kentucky Wonder. Pods are flat, green, and 7-9 inches long. Seeds jet black, kidney-shaped. slightly curved; stringy; highly constricted around seeds. Deep red blush on pods at maturity. Light pink flowers. Medium-low productivity when grown in 2012, 2013 at Heritage Farm. Mid-season maturing. SSE members Tom & Sue Knoche began growing this family heirloom bean in 1966. It was given to them by Sue's great-aunt Marge. During the Great Depression, Marge's father would drive a Model T Ford from their home near Cherry Fork, Ohio to sell beans in the wealthy area of Cincinnati. Seeds were donated to SSE in 1990 by the late Mark Futterman (CA FU M) who received the variety in 1986 from Tom Knoche (OH KN T) via the SSE Yearbook Exchange. SSE Accession # 102864
