VEGETABLES / BEAN
DRY-POLE
Pole. Dry bean. Great shelling (horticultural) or dry beans. Not as good as a snap bean, as only the youngest and thinnest pods are tender. Dried beans are a pretty, shiny, tan color. Nice, mild, earthy flavor. Pretty white and yellow flowers. Vines reach 9' tall. 58-60 days. Vigorous and fast to sprout, germinating in 7-9 days. Grown by Anne Boudreau for the 2023 Collection Documentation Project; she noted it was easy to grow and seemed less affected by mosaic virus than other bean varieties. Donated to SSE in the early 1980s by Lloyd Dudley (MA DU L). SSE Accession # 102154
