Cichorium endivia. Escarole type. Plants have green to yellow-green leaves that are tightly folded, have a toothed margin and spatulate shaped. Leaves measure 4.3-6 inches long and 3-4.5 inches long. Plants are 4.5-8.25 inches tall and 12.5-15 inches in diameter. A very nice tasting escarole that has tough leaves, but is not as bitter and surprisingly sweet. Acquired by SSE in 1989 from Nichols Garden Nursery (CV Ni1) of Oregon. A variety by this name has been shared within the SSE Yearbook Exchange community for more than 20 years since the late 1980s.
