Big Ben

Beefsteak tomato. Large pink fruit are flattened to slightly flattened and have strong green coloring on top. Ribbing extends the entire fruit. Fruit typically found in ones, but also twos. Fruit measure 2.5-3.5 inches long, 3.5-6 inches wide, and weigh up to 3 pounds. Indeterminate plants with regular leaves and flowers with highly exserted styles. Early maturing and average productivity when grown in 2016 at Heritage Farm. BRIX reading 5.0. People either thought this was exceptional or average, so you be the judge. Acquired by SSE in the early 1980s from Ben Quisenberry of Big Tomato Gardens in Syracuse, OH. Ben Quisenberry passed away in 1986 at the age of 99. SSE Accession # 121409
